Abstract:Zenker"s diverticulum (ZD), also known as cricopharyngeal, pharyngoesophageal or hypopharyngeal diverticulum, is a rare condition characterized by an acquired outpouching of the mucosal and submucosal layers originating from the pharyngoesophageal junction. The symptoms include dysphagia,hoarseness,dysphonia,cough, dyspnea, aspiration pneumonia, haematemesis, pain, regurgitation, halitosis and malnutrition. Our country is lack of epidemiological date and some cases were reported. This review discusses the pathogenesis, clinical manifestation, diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum.
