Abstract:To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of a novel gastrointestinal occluder device in gastrobronchial fistula. Data of 5 patients diagnosed with gastrobronchial fistula who received a novel gastrointestinal occluder device treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University admitted from July 2020 to August 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical data including the technical success rate, total operating time, occluding time, postoperative hospital stay and patients" satisfaction were reviewed and follow-up data were obtained by telephone and hospital readmission. All patients were males with age of 58-69 years. The course of fistula was ranged 3-16 months and the diameter was ranged 0.3-1.0 cm. 5 patients all had technical success. The operating time was ranged 38-88 minutes and the occluding time was ranged 8-24 minutes. The postoperative hospital stay was ranged 3-5 days and the patients’ satisfaction scores was 10. There were no reported severe complications. The short-term occluding outcome was evaluated by symptoms, gastroscopy, bronchoscopy, methylene blue test and gastrography with meglumin diatrizoate 1 month after endoscopic therapy. 4 patients were completely occluded. 1 patient died of severe pulmonary infection and multiple organ failure although there was no previous chock after drinking and eating. Endoscopic closure of gastrointestinal fistulae by means of the novel gastrointestinal occluder device is safe and effective.
