Abstract:Gastric bezoars represent a collection of undigested substances that form concretions in the gastric cavity. Based on their components, bezoars are mainly classified as phytobezoars, trichobezoars, pharmacobezoars, and other types. While some individuals remain asymptomatic, others may experience severe complications, including but not limited to bleeding, perforation, and obstruction, underscoring the importance of timely and effective bezoar management. The treatment strategies include surgical, pharmacological, and endoscopic approaches. However, a standard treatment protocol has yet to be established. Given that phytobezoars are the predominant subtype, this review endeavors to summarize the management strategies for phytobezoars, aiming to serve as a valuable reference for clinicians in their treatments.
